In the Dark II, Nov 2020
Some people can see better in the dark than with daylight. Likewise this is true for animals like cats, owls and possums which are known for night vision.
In this series, photographs were taken at various times of the night including the small hours before dawn. Whilst in the dark, we tend to be more focused and mindful of things that are present or absent which we might otherwise overlook in daylight. The work is also about existentialism and vulnerability. Paints were added to the photographs as a self-inflicted intervention in response to the emotionally charged objects and scenes in the pictures.
A sequel of In the Dark series completed between Oct 2018 and May 2019, this work seeks to express solidarity with the people seeking light in the dark.
